El pasado 25 de octubre, Mari Carmen Aponte recibió el premio William J. Clothier Memorial 2017 otorgado por la Pan-American Association de Filadelfia en reconocimiento por su trabajo. A pesar de que como latina ha tenido una prolífica carrera como Secretaria de Estado asistente en el área de relaciones con el hemisferio occidental, Aponte también ha sido víctima del machismo.

On October 25th, Mari Carmen Aponte was recognized by the Pan-American Association in Philadelphia for her service with the 2017 William J. Clothier Memorial Award. Although the Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs has had a prolific career as a spearheading Latina, she has been subjected to demeaning sexism. This is our exclusive.

“Debido a la gran demanda de espectadores, esta fue el cuarto banco telefónico comunitario que Telemundo62 presentó este año relacionado con asuntos migratorios. El pasado banco telefónico fue en julio del 2017, que salió al aire en Telemundo62 y se enfocó en la inmigración, recibiendo más de 200 llamadas en tan sólo 90 minutos. El foco del cuarto estuvo en ‘DACA’, en el cual nos asociamos con organizaciones latinas locales para responder las preguntas de los espectadores y sus preocupaciones con respecto a la inmigración”. – Diana Torralvo, NBC10 y Telemundo62.

"Due to high viewer demand, this was the fourth community phone bank that Telemundo62 hosted this year related to immigration issues. The previous phone bank in July 2017, which aired on Telemundo62 and focused on immigration, garnered more than 200 calls in only 90 minutes. Attorney General Josh Shapiro joins forces to Legally Fight for DACA

Sixteen attorney generals reviewed the facts, and determined that Trump’s DACA directive violates the rule of law. Of the sixteen, the attorney general for The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, is standing up for the 5,889 DREAMers in his state.

Fourteen year old Saudi Arabian has been arrested for a video that went viral almost a year ago. The sordid crime? Publicly dancing to the Los del Río one-hit-wonder, Macarena, on the main road in Jeddah. Though admittedly humorous, the issue of his detainment is much more serious than the gleeful and choreographed wiggles would appear to indicate.

President Donald Trump insisted on Monday in a pair of Twitter posts that the border wall with Mexico, the financing of which is an obstacle blocking a budget agreement to avoid a partial shutdown of the US government, is a "very important tool" for preventing the entry of illegal drugs into this country.
