#ALDÍATalks: Second Lady of Pennsylvania Gisele Fetterman

Thu, 02/28/2019 - 4:11pm -- davidm

Pennsylvania’s new Second Lady, Gisele Fetterman will visit the AL DÍA newsroom on Monday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. for an AL DÍA Talk.

A strong community leader and respected activist in Western Pennsylvania, in 2012 Fetterman founded the Free Store, an entirely volunteer-driven organization that receives surplus and donated goods, then redistributes them at no cost to neighbors in need.

Fetterman also co-founded 412 Food Rescue, an initiative to redistribute would-be discarded food throughout Allegheny County.

Last year, her efforts earned her the distinction of “Best Activist” from Pittsburgh City Paper.

Originally from Brazil, Fetterman is a formerly undocumented immigrant. Now, wife to Pennsylvania’s new Lieutenant Governor, John Fetterman, she is the state’s Second Lady, a platform she used to proudly display a pin that read, ‘Immigrant’ on inauguration day.

Fetterman will join AL DÍA to discuss her new role, the charity she continues to undertake, and her experience navigating the country’s immigration system.
